Like a stone wrapped in leaves, silent presence can mean everything. Life’s warmth often comes from those who quietly stay.
One warm afternoon, I happened upon this stone.
The leaves were gently embracing it—
as if they’d known each other for a long time.
The stone said nothing.
The leaves bent and reached, offering their presence instead of words.
Time had stitched a quiet friendship between them.
Perhaps this stone had been here for decades.
While people passed by,
and seasons changed again and again,
it never moved. It simply stayed.
In contrast, the leaves change.
They grow, wither, disappear, then bloom again.
Each year, they leave traces on the unchanging surface.
There are "stones" in our lives, too—
people who stay no matter what,
who don't say much, but whose presence comforts us.
And sometimes, we become such a stone for others.
We become the background they lean on.
Life isn't always dazzling.
Often, it's filled with small, quiet moments.
Like a leaf curling around a stone.
And that's what makes life warm and deep.
This stone reminded me to ask—
who are the stones in my life?
And am I one, too?
You don’t need to shine.
You don’t even need to speak.
Just being there is sometimes more than enough.
