The Forest Where the Wind Stays – Whispers of Willows in the City

I Met Myself on a Gray Road

While walking on gray blocks, I realized—what matters more than the destination is how I'm walking through life.

One day, it was just an ordinary walk.
The sky was average, the air was simply fine.
As I walked, staring at my toes, it suddenly hit me—
Ah, I’m still moving forward.

The paving stones were calm gray,
and a dark line cut through the middle.
It seemed like a boundary,
or perhaps just a decoration with no meaning.

A white sneaker gently steps over it.
Heading somewhere,
but the destination didn’t matter.
Walking itself was the meaning.

People often ask, “Where are you going?”
But I prefer, “How are you going?”
Slowing down, looking around,
I’m learning how to find the road I truly want.

The road always tells us something.
Maybe it’s saying don’t stop,
or maybe, take it slow,
or perhaps, walk without thinking at all.

Today, I follow the texture of the blocks.
I step onto the solid path,
sometimes misaligned,
sometimes falling perfectly into rhythm.

And my heart feels lighter.
Even without anyone cheering me on,
I can trust myself to take each step.
Just like this gray road under my sneakers,
I’ll believe in my own quiet strength.

So I keep walking today as well.
Finding meaning
on a seemingly meaningless path.
